Floss in the New Year

At least 60% of Americans do not floss daily. If you are in that group, I encourage you to join the daily flossing club. Flossing should not be considered an “extra” thing to do--it is an essential part of caring for your teeth and gums. The American Dental Association (ADA) notes “Flossing is an important oral hygiene practice. Tooth decay and gum disease can develop when plaque is allowed to build up on teeth and along the gum line. Professional cleaning, tooth brushing, and cleaning between teeth (flossing and the use of other tools such as interdental brushes) have been shown to disrupt and remove plaque."
